By Michael McLellan Lake Taneycomo, near Branson, Missouri, is not the longest or the most well known tailwater trout fishery on the White River System, but recently it has produced some of the best, most consistent trout fishing in the South. The oldest manmade lake in the Ozarks, Lake Taneycomo was formed with the completion of Powersite Dam in 1913 (now called Ozark Beach Dam). In 1958 Table Rock Dam was built upstream of Ozark Beach Dam, subsequently turning Lake Taneycomo into a cold-water fishery.
